Airbrush Hyperfabric: Interactive Storytelling Fabric Connected to Motion Graphics & Music
University of Washington Textiles Studies Research Cluster Lightning Talk
Airbrush hyperfabric is an interactive storytelling fabric, connecting fabric to AR/VR/3D digital experiences of motion graphics and music to amplify countercultural voices. The mobile application allows for custom creating interactive fabric both physically (e.g., embroidering QR codes) and digitally (e.g., creating 3D filters to overlay garments). On the back-end, I developed the fabric by linking audiovisual 3D/AR/VR environments to QR codes embroidered on archetypal hooded sweatshirts. This investigation of enhancing fabric through interactive narrative presents promising opportunity to enhance the expressivity and sensory experience of garments while restoring storytelling power within the hands of the creative counterculture.
